A New Start

It's not often that we get a chance to start over, or is it?
Or is starting over just a choice that comes from an overwhelming desire for more...or less!
Becoming free from the financial system that can make a grown man cry...
This is a journey of a transition as such.
The question is, what do you want and where to start.
The obvious answer is a free schedule and time to explore. Learn, grow, discover and live!
Today is one of those wonderful free days. A relaxing brunch with a few friends and then the rest of the day to relax and brain dump, explore and learn without the confinement of a schedule. The only challenge will be running out of time in one day. Why? There's so much to learn that traditional educational institutes can never teach you. Top 10 Restaurant Pet Peeves

Do we all think this, or is it just me?!
Whether you're doing a table for 1, or in the company of others that you would like to enjoy, here is my top 10 pet peeves while dining out at a restaurant. Fancy, or a dive somewhere, this is a universal list of annoyances.

10. Don't vacuum, sweep or mop under my table if I'm sitting there. Whether I have my food there or not, you can wait! But, especially if my food is on the table...NO! Away! Keep the air around the floor and what not still until I'm gone!

9. Don't roll the garbage by my table if I'm sitting there or if there is food on the table. I don't want to smell it while I'm eating, or get a glimpse of the remains of someone else's meal. That's gross.

8. Screaming kids. OK, I know that we really have little control of a screaming id or baby, but please bring it outside until it's done.

7. Loud environment. Music, other people, bad acoustics... trying to listen over background noises is killer. Especially when it's so loud that everyone has to shout to speak and be heard, which means that everyone is shouting to speak and be heard. It makes communicating almost impossible...a moment killer. No, loud music is not cool when you are at a place to eat and talk... if you want loud music, go to a club.

6. Always have someone ready to greet a guest. There's so much competition out there, customer service should be a priority.

5. Stop talking to your co-worker or friend if a customer is waiting.

4. It's fine if you want to show your cooks off, but at least put something to keep the noise contained. The ching of metal against a grill adds to the background noise and is distracting. Also, especially if they don't speak english...it might make some people paranoid.

3. Don't serve the person next to me from over me. Walk around to them and serve them.

2. Don't put your finger on the lip of my cup.

1. Keep the bathrooms clean.

American Maryland University Students Robbed in Pretoria

There is a definite tension and sense of danger in Pretoria, but for the students from Stevenson University, they were first hand witnesses of the underlying danger.

Everything looks fine on the highway, but after getting off, you're met with walls surrounding every building. Usually there is a sharp point at the top of each wall, barb wire and sometimes electric fences on top of the walls and barb wire. So, needless to say, Pretoria is a place that requires street smarts.

With the all popular "smash and grab" crime that happens to regular everyday citizens that live in Pretoria, it actually is not a big surprise that a tour bus carrying 35 Americans, 30 of which were students at Stevenson University (located in Stevenson, Maryland) and 5 chaperons, with money and technology was a target of a crime.

The robbers came up shooting at the bus to get it to stop. They then proceeded to board the bus and collect the spoil from cooperative victims. Fortunately, nobody was hurt in this robbery and they lost material possessions, rather than their lives, and have received the needed assistance to get back home to the States safely.

It's sad that a country that is so beautiful and has so much potential is so terrorized by so much crime. The Pretoria police department is flooded with crime incidents, but the people know that it is pretty much useless to call them for help. However, ADT and other security companies have stepped up to the plate to offer support to the people in need of help and protection.

Before going to South Africa, educate yourself and brush up on your street smarts. Read about what to look out for, how to manage your money, passport, electronic devices and personal items. It's a whole new culture with its own rhythm. Make sure to know the ebbs and flows as much as possible before charging out like a sitting duck.

Although many precautions can be taken to avoid bringing attention to yourself and your valuables, crime can happen at any time, for any reason. Even if it's for the equivalent of a couple dollars (or Rand), but don't let it stop you from visiting Pretoria and having a wonderful time.

Bridal Fashion Show

It's Trunk season! Trunk season? What is trunk season? What is a Trunk Show?

Wiki says:

A trunk show is a special sale in which vendors present merchandise directly to store personnel or select customers at a retail location or another unique venue. In many cases it allows store personnel to preview and/or purchase merchandise before it is made available to the public. Typically, clients view the merchandise, place orders, and then wait for the vendor to manufacture and deliver the goods.

It is particularly desirable to have the actual designer present at the event. Most small businesses do this to get more buys.

Sometimes, trunk shows sell remnant and leftover items from runways, samples, and so on. Trunk shows are so named because dresses used to be transported to these events in trunks.

Trunk shows are particularly popular in the bridal industry, in which January through May is trunk show season. At trunk shows, brides can view a larger selection of a bridal designer's collection than is normally carried in a bridal salon.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So...where can I find a trunk show? There is a little gem of a store nestled behind the Burger King off Baltimore National Pike in Ellicott City, MD, where many of my friends from near and far (Africa far!) have come and found that dress that is a part of launching 2 lovers into a new chapter of life together~ It's called
Venus Bridal Collection.  There is a wide variety of dresses from vintage to modern and couture with price ranges to match the diverse assortment. This weekend they are have a trunk show for the Casablanca & Casablanca Couture designer and offering 10% off if you buy during the show! But, if you happen to find your dress there from another designer, you can get 10% off an accessory, but if you get a Casablanca or Casablanca Couture dress and an accessory, you can take 10% off of the dress and 10% off of an accessory also! Wow! That's an amazing deal!

To be "In the Know" for the next Trunk Show, like Venus Bridal Collection on Facebook here.

This trunk show sounds like a great time for a bride on a budget, and this is just the beginning of the trunk show season! Make an appointment so that you can check out a trunk show!

PS4 Short Drooling Review

Every day, new phones, new tablets, new laptops doubling as a some other type of random gadget that we just can't live without -- and it's Android! Gaming consoles, aren't that prolific. In 18 years of having the PlayStation amongst us, we've only reached version 4 -- a stupid huge difference from that of  the Apple's iPhone, which seems to release a new version every time we blink. Today, PlayStation enters the "next generation" once more with the PlayStation 4, and the world is significantly different than the last time around: HD is finally standard, online multiplayer offers an expectation and multitasking is a given.
Despite it's new and interesting look, awesome game experiences, 2013 gamers should expect a multifaceted, swift gaming console that's as fast and powerful as the crazy never ending wave of cutting edge electronics that are standard in our modern lives. Will the PlayStation 4 live up to our spoiled expectations?

Most definitely! It will be well worth your money to invest in this speedy and powerful console. Vita integration works seamlessly with the PS4, which will allow you to easily access just about everything! Remote Play hits a bit of a speed bump, but only according to the wireless strength which is your own home set up. It works pretty smoothly up to about 20 feet, beyond that, the issues resolve themselves just as quickly as it happens.

Wolf Creek Art - The Love Flute

 Wolfcreekart.com
The story behind the Love Flute (it surely drew me in!):
A long time ago, there lived a young man who was very shy. He was brave in battle, and led the buffalo hunt with courage, yet when it came to speaking his love to the girl he wanted to marry, he was too shy to speak. He would stand helplessly, his eyes cast to the ground, while other young men stood with their courting blankets outside the tipi of the girl's father.
The young man thought about the girl day and night. In his dreams she was still there before his eyes, yet even in his dreams he lacked the courage to tell her of his love.
He watched her from a distance when she fetched water from the river, and his heart was heavy when he saw the other young men who talked to her so easily, whistled to her to gain her attention, and in a hundred ways vied for her love. The young man was sure that the girl did not notice him
One day, his heart aching, he left the camp and wandered alone. In despair he drew his bow and without a thought he let fly an arrow into the air.
To his amazement the arrow stayed aloft. It seemed to him that the arrow pointed ahead. He followed the direction of the arrow and found that it moved ahead at a steady pace which he could follow. He followed the arrow all day, and when evening came the arrow fell to earth beside a stream.
He slept beside the stream, and in the morning shot another arrow into the sky. Again the arrow stayed aloft, and led him on. That evening it, too, sank to earth beside a stream. This continued for a total of four days.
On the fourth day the young man slept at the edge of a forest. In that half-dream state between waking and sleep, two Elk Men appeared to him, and told him that they had come to help him. "We have come to give you this flute", one said, and when he blew into the flute he carried, the sound was so beautiful that even the forest stood breathlessly listening.
The Elk Man told him, "This flute is made from the wood of the cedar, because cedars grow where the winds blow. Woodpecker made these finger holes in the flute with his beak."
The other Elk Man told him "All the birds and animals helped to make this flute, and their voices sing within it. When you play this flute for the girl you love, all our voices sing with you. Your music will speak the words of love that your voice alone cannot."
Then the Elk Men were gone, but there, lying on sage leaves, was the flute. The young man set off towards his home, his heart light. He played the flute as he walked, and the cranes joined in his song. For four days he walked, playing his music, and listening to the sounds of the animals and birds. He imitated the sounds of the animals on his flute, and from those sounds he made melodies
As evening drew near on the fourth day, he reached the hill above his camp. There he paused to play his flute, and the sounds of the beautiful music he made carried into the camp and thrilled the heart of every woman there.
But one woman, the girl he loved, knew that the music spoke straight to her heart. The girl left her tipi and joined the young man on the hill. She listened to the words of love that his music spoke more eloquently than his voice could express. "I love you. I love you."

http://wolfcreekart.com is a website that has a vast collection of Native American handmade fine crafted art.
We stumbled upon them at the Pow Wow at the Howard County Fairgrounds last weekend. As we were walking along, the beautiful sound of a wooden flute was echoing through the warehouse. A sweet, yet haunting sounds that just drew you in...I had to find out where the sound was coming from. It piqued an insatiable interest and created a strange longing inside, as if there was a great adventure to be found.

I definitely understand the draw of the love flute!

We found Mark Barfoot peacefully playing at his stand. Mark Barfoot, is a Native American Indian Folk Artist, was born in 1952 in North America, the son of an Wolf Clan Onondaga mother and a Cherokee father.
He learned the art of finger weaving at a very young age. Much of what he learned was self taught, but he studied with elders from various nations to learn other mediums of Indian folk art. Mark creates a wide variety of fine craft art.

The list of handmade crafts at left are only a part of the life and learning of Mark Barfoot. As he travels the country selling his work, he shares his knowledge of the culture with those he meets.

Mark is also a musician. He plays the flute and has made 3 flute music CD's. Mark is available for flute performance at gatherings, shows, and private events.

Mark is a master drum maker. His drum websites are:

As Time Goes By

It's been a while since I've posted here... it's amazing how much life has changed, how much I have changed. I remember the hopes and dreams from past posts, internally speaking, and how this moment today, a lot of those things have not come to pass. But, I'm not as upset by it as I was when I was younger. Is this due to a complacency, a giving up of hope, a loss of fight for what I want? Or, is it just a part of maturing? Life is still weird, that is one unchangeable constant! What once mattered before seems to be just a pile of dust today.
Going to hit the streets to get the word out for the tattoo brightener i'm actually really excited.

Colonoscopy Prep

For anyone advised to use Magnesium Citrate (MC) to prep for your colonoscopy, here is a little glimpse of your prep life from 4pm --> the next morning!
The directions I received were to buy three 10 oz. bottles of (MC) from any over the counter pharmacy. So, went to CVS a few days before and found the mixture easily and paid less then $10 for 3 lemon flavored glass bottles. That was a pleasant surprise!
OK, so the day of prep arrives. At 4pm, 7pm and 9pm I had to down one of those seemingly small 10oz. glass bottles of MC. I was planning to play volleyball that night, so I was hoping that it would be a quick in and out deal (Yeah, yeah, so I didn't do any research about the prep before starting). After the first sip at 4pm, my lips puckered and one of those feelings of something destroying the enamel on every tooth in my mouth came into play. I don't drink a lot of liquids in one sitting, but I just forced myself to down this as fast as possible. Shortly after, severe nausea and a raging headache kicked in and I felt like I was going to die. I can usually take uncomfortableness and relax on the couch, but I wanted to be in my sleeping quarters.
My roommate and a friend came home shortly after and I asked her to look at the MC b/c she's a dentist and knows different drugs. I needed to know if this was a normal reaction to MC. After looking at the directions, the last line read, mix with ginger ale. Of course, the stomache calming part that I overlooked and deemed unimportant.
I immediately went to the store and got 2 bottles of ginger ale for the next two 10oz. doses of MC.

WHAT A DIFFERENCE!
WARNING:
ALWAYS MIX THIS STUFF WITH GINGER ALE!

The nausea was down to a tolerable level, but I just felt ill. No volleyball for me!
Shortly after the 7pm dose, that's when the firework began! I never knew the power and capabilities of my ass until last night! I know that it may sound extreme, but honestly, the first toilet effect of the MC could be likened to the fire coming out of the back of a rocket when it first blasts off! WHEW! I really thought I was going to be lifted off of the toilet when that powerful explosion of waste came out of my ass! It was violent, explosive, scary and quite shocking! Actually, borderline exciting to know that my body was capable of such a viscous force! So, blasting off was an amazing discovery until about the 5th time. That was when the fire began to kick in.
Guess there can't be a blast off without a bad burn left behind.
It was almost like someone took acid and poured it onto the opening of my ass. This was a miserable experience. When the last dose of this 10oz. concoction went down, I was hoping that it would be over. I couldn't imagine having to do this much longer. The time in between visits to the restroom were now becoming a normal rhythm of life. The acid burning feeling became worse and worse and I was soon seeing a little blood after wiping, but the color of the discharge was beginning to lighten and thin out. I came near shaking every time I had to wipe and began fearing that rumbling feeling in the stomach that sent me running to the bathroom.
At this point, I was so glad that I chose not to go to volleyball!

So, don't plan on doing anything once you start drinking this solution.

make sure to be in a comfortable place that has fast access to a toilet and warn other people that may be sharing the bathroom with you. Your going to need exclusive access at all times!

I finally decided to go to sleep around 11, but my body had other plans. Just as I got comfortable, the "somethings coming whether your ready or not!" began and continued for a couple hours after. To be honest, it would have been beneficial just to remain on the toilet for a few hours.
I finally decided to look up other peoples experiences on the internet and was comforted and entertained to know that I wasn't the only one blasting off during this process! I found some of the comments of others blasting off extremely hilarious, especially because I was experiencing the same phenomenon! I'm actually laughing right now at the thought of the whole blasting off aspect!!!!!!! Amazing!

The last time I looked at the clock it was a little after 2?
I finally went to sleep and woke up knowing that it was blast off time and was dreading the burn. To my surprise, the burn had disappeared! YEAH! A smooth blast off!

So, with all of that blasting off, I had to check the scale to see if there was any perk to that acidic burning pain.

And.............would you know......[drum roll]......................

8 Whole pounds down the drain in 1 night of perpetual blasts offs!!!!! WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!!!!

From this point, the discharge was a clean, light yellow 100% liquid and the burning was over!

The goal is now to get to the colonoscopy location without blasting off on the way. Thankfully, everything went well and made it to the check in point with no accidents! However, when asked by the nurse if I needed the bathroom, I thought it might be a good idea to see if there were anymore launch times.
to my surprise, there was a scheduled launch, but it was tamed down to a light, gentle flow! That chapter of launches was now over! Any other fears of accidents in the operating quarters were all dissolved by the lovely white liquid shot through my IV from the anesthesiologist!

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH................. everything from that point on is a wonderful mystery!
